How to tell which you have
- Duke Energy Carolinas: Your bill comes from Duke Energy Carolinas.
- Piedmont Electric: You're a member of the Piedmont Electric co-op (homes outside town limits in Orange County).
The quickest check is the logo on your electric bill. Tell us your utility when you request a quote and your quote will include the right credit.
Why it matters
Your utility decides two things: whether you get a credit toward the install, and what you pay per mile at home. Charging on an off-peak plan, where one is offered, usually cuts the cost of home charging by a third or more.
